It's Good To Hear From You Again!

When we lived in Berwick, PA, there was one of the neighbor girls who spent quite a bit of time at our place. I guess you could say that she was kind of like a little sister to me. We would play games, do homework, ride bikes, etc. After we moved to Lewistown in 1996 - with the exception of a few letters - we pretty much lost contact. One day last week, Valeen called and talked to my parents. Of course I was at work and didn't get to talk to her. However, I did get an e-mail from her today. It was great to hear from her again after I don't know how many years!
This is not a current picture, but it was the most recent one I have. This was Valeen's senior picture from when she graduated from high school and she is now almost through law school!

The Tim Calhoun Family - Or At Least Part Of It!

We had a special service at church last night with the Tim Calhoun family. Tim and his daughters sang and played - Laura on the cello and Elizabeth on the violin. Sister Calhoun declined the invitation to preach even though she had said earlier that she inherited her father's preaching voice.

Here Tim plays the guitar while Elizabeth plays the violin and Laura waits to help sing.

Tim plays the guitar while his daughters - Laura and Elizabeth - sing a song that Elizabeth helped write. It was very nice and they did a great job singing it!

Tim Calhoun - a man of many talents, and languages, sings "One Day At A Time" in Spanish! It was beautiful - even if we couldn't understand the part he sang in Spanish! He did sing part of it in English.

Tim singing "Amazing Grace" by request in memory of Cloyd Thompson, a friend of ours who passed away a little over two years ago.

Here's Tim Calhoun doing one of his favorite things - talking!

Another Auction!

We went to an auction today at Stevens' Auction building downtown. Dad knew they were supposed to have books, so of course he had to go! Even if I've said before that I'm not going, I usually end up changing my mind and end up going anyway, so I just said right off the bat that I was going. I ended up with about eight boxes of books (Dad only got nineteen boxes). This was on top of the other stuff that I bought. Fortunately, at least if you were wanting to buy stuff, there weren't very many people there, so stuff was going half decently cheap. Hopefully I can get some of my money back out of some of the stuff. That would help pay for the books that I wanted for myself!

Haircut Time!

Tonight was the night for the event of going for a haircut. At the Strodes Mills Barber Shop, going for a haircut is truly an event! Part of the charge may be for the haircut, but anything above that is worth it for the stories that are told! These stories might range from the normal hunting and fishing stories to current events or just about anything else. Of course if something happens to be going on on the scanner, then that's probably the direction the conversation will turn. Although haircuts are by appointment now, as Dick Reynolds - one of the barbers along with Matt Espigh - said "It's worth it to show up early for the vast amount of education and information you can pick up!"

Here I Am!

Well, I finally did it! After some good intentions and wanting to for quite a while, I finally started a blog.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish my mother a Happy Birthday!
I don't have any pictures of her on my computer, so I can't put one here.
Keep checking back, I will try to keep this updated regularly unless I happen to be away.
Thanks for dropping in!
